2018 Summer Class and Workshop Calendar

You may view classes and workshops, organized by class or workshop and organized by category using the menu selections, i.e. Weekly Classes or Workshops and then selecting the area of interest.

      1. What is the difference between the two prices listed for a class or workshop?
The full price is for non-members and the discounted price is for CAC members.
      2. What are the benefits of a membership?
In addition to other benefits detailed on our Become a Member page, it entitles you to have a $30 discount for all classes or workshops you take in the year after you sign up for membership. Your membership is completely tax-deductible.
      3. Do I have to purchase my own supplies for classes even though I paid a materials fee?
The materials fee covers communal department expenses and varies with the class you take. These include easels, demonstration supplies that are used by the instructor, printed handouts, firing fees, gas for welding equipment and other equipment supplies. You will still need to bring your own personal art supplies as listed in your supply list or discussed the first day of class.
      4. Do I need to purchase supplies for a workshop?
Generally, all art supplies for workshops are provided. If you are asked to bring an item for the workshop, it will be detailed in the description online.

      SCHOLARSHIPS

CAC has a limited number of scholarships each session for deserving students facing financial hardship. Although the materials fee is included, we are unable to provide scholarships any additional class supplies you may need. To apply for a scholarship for one session, please complete and sign the form here. Allow 2-3 weeks for your application to be reviewed.

BUILDING YOUR CREATIVE CONFIDENCE

Sept 2016

Creativity Coach Jill Allison Bryan has some great ideas for carving out a creative space so you will have no excuses not to have creative pursuits at your fingertips. According to Jill who also teaches a workshop at CAC called Building Your Creative Confidence, you don’t need an entire studio or even a lot of space to make time to bring more creativity into your life. “A drawer, a closet, a corner, anyplace can become a creative space,” she said in the Dallas Morning News feature that ran last week. Here’s a few ideas from this pro:

  • Stock a portable or rolling carrier that can travel from room to room that will help spark ideas.
  • Keep a bag handy for car trips, coffee trips or the car pool line.
  • Trunks and ottomans with lift-up tables and other hidden storage furniture pieces are great for storing art, craft and sewing supplies.
  • Create an inspiration station somewhere in your home – it could be a bulletin board or a collection of special objects that inspire you. Change it up as needed to keep you motivated.
  • Set up a writing corner in your house where you can enjoy a cup of tea and write or draw.

To learn more about Jill and her creative coaching ideas visit her web site www.creativeoasiscoaching.com. Click here to register for her next CAC workshop Building Your Creative Confidence on Oct 8 from 1 to 5pm.
